En un ambicioso plan para impulsar el turismo en el Parque Arqueológico de Choquequirao, Proinversión anunció que el Teleférico de Choquequirao será adjudicado en el último trimestre de 2025 mediante una Asociación Público-Privada (APP). Este proyecto, que demandará una inversión estimada de US$ 261 millones, busca aumentar el flujo de visitantes de 8,000 a un millón de turistas al año, posicionando a Choquequirao como uno de los destinos más atractivos del Perú. La iniciativa no solo mejorará la accesibilidad al sitio arqueológico, sino que también generará un impacto económico significativo en las regiones de Cusco y Apurímac.
Antes de la adjudicación, entre febrero y abril de 2024, se llevará a cabo la convocatoria para el concurso de proyectos integrales destinados al “Mejoramiento de los Servicios Turísticos Públicos del Parque Arqueológico Choquequirao”. Este proceso marcará el inicio de una serie de acciones enfocadas en modernizar la infraestructura y los servicios turísticos, garantizando una experiencia de calidad para los visitantes. El proyecto se desarrollará bajo la modalidad de APP Cofinanciada, lo que permitirá una colaboración estratégica entre el sector público y privado.
El Teleférico de Choquequirao no solo facilitará el acceso a este impresionante sitio arqueológico, conocido como la “hermana sagrada” de Machu Picchu, sino que también contribuirá a descongestionar otros destinos turísticos sobrecargados. Con una inversión de esta magnitud, se espera que Choquequirao se convierta en un referente turístico global, atrayendo a viajeros de todo el mundo y generando oportunidades de desarrollo para las comunidades locales. Este proyecto representa un paso clave para fortalecer el turismo sostenible en el Perú y reafirmar el compromiso con la preservación y promoción de su patrimonio cultural.
