ComexPerú se sumó al rechazo del sector turismo contra el dictamen que busca modificar la distribución de recursos del Fondo de Promoción y Desarrollo Turístico Nacional, reduciendo del 80% al 50% el presupuesto de PromPerú para promoción. El gremio calificó la medida como un “golpe al sector”, cuya recuperación aún está 27,8% por debajo de los niveles prepandemia.
El dictamen, aprobado en primera votación, propone repartir el fondo en partes iguales entre PromPerú y el Plan Copesco Nacional, pero ComexPerú sostiene que no existe sustento técnico para este cambio. Advirtió que el recorte de S/ 55,9 millones (30% del fondo) debilitaría la promoción internacional del Perú, clave para atraer más visitantes.
El gremio destacó que el turismo requiere inversión sostenida, pues sus resultados no son inmediatos. En 2019, con S/ 215 millones en promoción, llegaron 4,4 millones de turistas; en 2024, con S/ 176 millones, la cifra fue de 3,3 millones. Reducir el presupuesto ahora, señalaron, frenaría la reactivación.
“El fondo fue creado para impulsar el turismo, no para desviar recursos”, remarcó ComexPerú, instando a buscar alternativas que no afecten su objetivo central. Subrayó que, a cinco años de la pandemia, el sector necesita estabilidad y promoción constante para dinamizar economías locales y cerrar la brecha de recuperación.
