El Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones (MTC) anunció que el nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez comenzará a operar el próximo 30 de marzo de 2025. La decisión, tomada en coordinación con Lima Airport Partners (LAP) y la comunidad aérea, busca priorizar la seguridad , eficiencia y regularidad, cumpliendo con los estándares internacionales de aviación civil. Inicialmente programada para el 29 de enero, la inauguración fue reprogramada tras evaluaciones conjuntas con aerolíneas, operadores y organismos supervisores.
El ministro de Transportes, Raúl Pérez Reyes, explicó que esta medida responde a la necesidad de realizar pruebas operacionales exhaustivas en el lado aire y tierra durante un período de 60 días. Estas pruebas garantizarán que las aerolíneas, servicios especializados y personal operativo estén completamente capacitados y familiarizados con los nuevos flujos del terminal. “Nuestro objetivo es ofrecer una experiencia segura y de calidad desde el primer día”, subrayó el titular del MTC.
La estrategia de apertura aún está en evaluación y podría implementarse de manera gradual o integral, según el avance de las pruebas. El gerente general de LAP, Juan José Salmón, destacó la importancia del trabajo articulado con todas las partes involucradas para asegurar que el terminal esté al 100% operativo. Por su parte, representantes de AETAI, IATA, Ositran y la ATU reiteraron su compromiso con la transición hacia una terminal de clase mundial.
Este nuevo paso marca un hito para el desarrollo aeroportuario del país, consolidando al Jorge Chávez como un centro estratégico para la conectividad aérea de la región. Con una infraestructura moderna y un enfoque en la experiencia del usuario, la nueva terminal promete elevar el estándar del transporte aéreo en Perú, beneficiando a millones de pasajeros cada año.
